FR Cristina Branco est considérée comme "l’héritière" naturelle d'Amalia Rodrigues. Dotée d’un tempérament "fadiste", capable d’exaltation dans la douleur et dans la fête, la jeune artiste a mis en pratique tous les arcanes du genre – le noir, l’introversion, le manque, l'expression de la souffrance– incarnant la « saudade ». Touchée par la grâce depuis ses débuts tardifs, Cristina Branco est considérée comme une star dans son pays d’origine, mais aussi aux Pays-Bas où elle a connu le succès en premier lieu. Depuis ses premiers albums qui renouvelaient le grand genre lusitanien, Cristina s'est orientée vers une musique aux racines plus classiques. Elle interprète à présent un « néo fado » porté par une voix limpide et sûre qui fait la part belle aux guitares et au piano. Elle nous donne rendez-vous cet automne pour fêter ses 10 ans de carrière.
